BOOK ONE: Souls of Fire and Lightning!
In this world, magic, mayhem and myth are a given. It's been a full century following the last Great War, but the land and it's people still bare the scars. With the Provence's mostly at peace, the need for Soul Stones have dwindled, and the more rare Soul Gems are even fewer.
Which brings us to Zara, a twenty-two year old with dark hair, tan skin and a no-bullshit attitude. Orphaned at the ripe age of seventeen, she was left as the only blacksmith worth a damn this side of the magical border. She can usually be found in tattered oversized cargo pants, and a black crop top smeared with oil and ash. From forging spires, to fixing odd and end mechanisms, Zara has managed to keep her family owned business afloat in the plummeting marketplace, but a deal comes along too sweet for her pass up.
Everything was under control, for the most part, until she stumbled upon a pulsating, violet colored, amethyst gem cluster. That's when all hell breaks loose. Turns out, the Gem was sentient, and occasionally took the form of a beautiful, naive woman with a bad habit of finding the worst kind of trouble; like being hunted by a notorious cult of power hungry, exiled Druids kinda trouble.
On the run from murderous, kidnapping Dregs, Zara and her new companion face down unknown wilds, temperamental Fae folk, and scholarly witches in order to find some answers. Hopefully they make it to Elysian, the only known safe haven for powerful Soul Sone and Soul Gem users alike, before they both get eaten, cursed, or sawed in half by battle hungry War Dwarves.
Throw in a couple love triangles, some harrowing doom, and an oddly knowledgeable damsel in distress, and BOOM. You have yourself an adventure.
Book 1 of The Shadow Series.
Myths, that's what the humans called it, but for Ashe it quickly became her reality. Her life changing transformation narrowed her paths down to two;
She could either embrace her fates and save the people she's grown to love, or she can walk away and live a somewhat normal life while others suffer the consequences. How far is she willing to go to create peace where there's never been any? Will she even create peace? Or will she help encourage the most brutal war the Shadow Realms have ever experienced?
Several years of Asheland's childhood had disappeared from her memory. She assumed it was her brain trying to protect her from a traumatic event, although that's true it's not exactly what she expected and her brain wasn't necessarily the cause. After being homeless until she was sixteen years old, then living in a boat dock for four years, she had finally found her home in a cottage in the near-by mountains of Wolf Creek. Everything seemed to be going well. However, as a list of secrets begin unraveling when Ashe gives in to her overwhelming urges to visit the island that terrified almost every citizen in Wolf Creek, her life becomes more complicated than she could've ever imagined. All of this just because she was turning twenty-one. Nothing was as it had ever seemed.
* excerpt from the book *
{ "Why do you make such reckless, impulsive decisions?" The old man asked as we watched the moon.
"The world could end tomorrow and everyone expects me to live in fear today? There's no life to live inside the box of fear, there's no freedom in there," I replied softly. }
