A spin-off from the Rootbridge series. Callie's wolf is out of control and therapy isn't helping her understand the fragments of memories she has about her mother's murder. So, unable to stay at Rootbridge any longer, she decides to take matters into her own hands and sets out to discover the truth about what really happened to her parents and what really happened to her. But, she gets more than she bargained for when she encounters the beast of Shadow Valley - a creature said to be deadly, half-rabid, untameable. Vikas Gordstrum, first born son to the alphas of the Shadow Valley pack, killed his moon mate on her 21st birthday. Haunted by her death and abandoned by his pack, he has lived on his own for years until one night his half-rabid wolf catches a new scent - one that intrigues him, one that grounds him like no other ever has, one that he doesn't want to let get away. With new revelations turning Callie's world upside down and a betrayer amongst those that she trusts, it will not be easy for her to discover who killed her mother and abandoned her in the forest as a child - nor will it be easy for her to let Vikas walk away after all is said and done. He is not her fated mate. And she is not his. But there is a connection between them that neither could have predicted - but one that they both should have seen coming. Book one in the Midnight Wolves series. Check out the original series: The Rootbridge Pack 1. An Alpha's Alpha 2. An Alpha's Claim 3. (#243 ranking in wolves Created 6/29/2021 cover by me)This is the story of a young male grey wolf, named Stone. He and his brother Spear lived with their father and mother somewhere in the forest of Alaska. Stone and his brother Spear grow and mature, learning to fight, and survive in the harsh forest. All this changes late one day when a black male wolf named Shadow kills their mother, Icicle. And if that wasn't bad enough, Stone and Spear get chased after by hunters. Later in the story, Stone, Spear and Blizzard end up meeting Snowflake, and they have many adventures. From getting shot at by hunters and chased by hunting dogs to surviving a drought and even a forest fire, the wolves have many difficulties. The wolves go through many difficult things that all wolves experience in everyday life. Stone and Snowflake then become a family, taking care of their pups, and exploring the forest they live in. After a while, things looked alright for Stone and his growing family. But when wolf packs from the Western region of the forest arrive, disputes begin to emerge among the wolf packs. It's time for Stone and his family to step up in life, and fight back against the enemy wolf packs that have recently arrived in order to defend themselves. Stone knew that the only way to restore order in the forest is to fight against the Western wolves of the forest. But will fighting back be enough in order for Stone and his family to survive with the conflicts between the wolf packs, on top of fighting against foxes and bears?
