In the lands of Kainor some people are born with runes. These runes, scrawled in black at the base of the right side of the neck, grant the person a certain power. These powers can range from cooking to combat and some can be very powerful and others not so much.

One girl is born with a different rune, a golden rune painted on her face. The strange rune gives her strange powers. She is able to steal other people's runes.

Now a dangerous assassin, Laika travels the lands of Kainor until she is finally captured by the King of Galabee's soldiers. She is used as a brute to strike fear into the King's not so loyal subjects, while she is kept company by the King's two sons. One of whom helps her realize that maybe she is more than just a killer.

❝You are just a WOMAN. You can't fight in this war, you're weak. It will chew you up and spit you out, you can't keep up with us.❞ The commander scoffed with a low chuckle. A couple of men behind him chuckled as well. Evander's gaze burned into the side of my head, awaiting my reply like everyone else. ❝If I can't fight, then why did the Queen herself ask me to take over your job for the time being?❞ I asked, pulling my dagger out from its sheath, taping on Commander Leland's breastplate with the tip, ❝Careful who you call weak Commander because you clearly don't know who I am.❞ He crossed his arms defensively, ❝Oh yeah? And who are you?❞ I leaned forward lightly, ❝The name's Aislin.❞ ________________ Her name was well-known throughout the kingdoms. Some believed she was just an urban legend, while others thought she was real but some believed she didn't exist at all. She was labeled "the infamous warrior" because she was known for destroying kingdoms with her bare hands. She was a woman, but she set a strong example for tens of thousands of men. She disappeared after a horrific accident. Years had passed, and she had led a life free of violence. After all those years, she was itching to return to the battlefield. Her wish was granted when Queen Aria of Kavan herself approached her and informed her of the events unfolding in her kingdom, requesting her assistance. A sexist Commander, a caring queen, a slacker army, new friendships, and an intriguing yet hothead prince are among the challenges she faces. She's got a lot to handle. --- REVIEWS (more inside) "If you put equal portions of action, adventure, comedy, mystery, romance & feminism in a ninja blender and set it to high power, YOU 👏 GET👏 AISLIN👏. But as they grow into their powers, they begin to question the future laid out before them. Zarek, with his brooding darkness and mastery over shadow magic, has always followed the path of destruction, but his sister, Seraphine, carries the light of hope deep within her-a light that both tempers and threatens to consume the darkness. Together, they are an unstoppable force, but they are also bound by the legacy of a twisted bloodline and the expectations of those who raised them. As the two prepare to leave the fortress of their childhood and conquer the outside world, they are tasked with ensuring the continuation of their bloodline-a task that will seal their fates. Torn between loyalty to the only family they've ever known and the desire to break free from the chains of their past, Zarek and Seraphine must decide if they will be the architects of destruction or the saviours of their destiny. The world is on the edge of chaos, and their decision will shape the future of magic, light, and darkness. The humans were free from their fae masters. Two decades later, Morana Stavenger has made a reputation in the overpopulated city of Molwreeth. She is the only female halfling in the city, perhaps the entire country. With her snow-white hair and amber eyes, her fae blood strikes fear into all who see her. That fear is what makes her career as a thief and mercenary so easy. After being orphaned at only thirteen, Morana had no other choice but to turn to crime to survive. With the aid of her caregiver and employer, The Madame Wyvern, Lydia Stavenger, her life is now comfortable and full of coin. Until the night a mysterious man burns her life as she knows it to ash. Follow Morana through a world filled with monsters, magic, and secrecy as she's forced into a new identity in order to repay a debt to the arrogant and cruel, Jovah Windsinger. Amid her journey, she uncovers darker secrets than she could ever imagine-secrets that will make her question everything. Will Morana survive long enough to escape back to her homeland, or will the evil lurking in the shadows devour her?
