Nisla's marriage to Ashton was a political alliance between the witches and humans. They easily grew into friends and adventally into lovers.
Now years later Ashton has a mistress and Nisla is miserable in a world that sees her as an unnatural creature and not as their future queen.
Nisla has never stopped loving Ashton and she holds out hope that she can save their crumbling marriage without crushing it completely.
