Ichika Orimura is known to be, Chifuyu Orimura's student in kendo practice in the dojo. So does Houki Shinonono. Even a mentor to Laura Budevig.

But what they didn't know, was that Chifuyu Orimura had another student before them.

Reiji Reinhart was that student. He is a Japanese-American civilian. He is a skilled, talented, brilliant and intelligent young man.

Chifuyu admired Reiji, when he was under her teaching. She even believed that he will be her successor. But that offer was declined.

Reiji told her that he believed that Ichika will be her successor. He maybe an idiot, but he will succeed in the end. She understood his words.

After that, Reiji vanished without a trace and without a word of farewell to his teacher. At the same time, Chifuyu believed and worried for him.
