It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman in possession of her own business and independence, must be in want of a man who wants more than a damn one-night-stand. Right?!

Annie La Fontaine is fed up with modern dating. Too many non-committal guys, too many disappointments, and definitely not enough romantic yearning. So when she decides to create a monthly Regency-style ball in her small Australian town, she is unprepared for both its success AND for one very specific suitor who arrives unannounced (how rude!): Blake Byrne, her first love and the man who broke her heart years ago.

Blake knows better than to try again with Annie - romancing his sister's best friend all those years before had been a mistake, and he is still putting the broken pieces of his life back together after a terrible accident. But in love, the heart wants what it wants, and as Annie and Blake find themselves unable to stop the gravitational pull back towards each other, will they be able to put their pasts behind them and their hearts back on the line?
