Perséfone es la "invisible" del título. Es callada y retraída, pero también es extremadamente observadora y atenta, siempre prestando mucha atención a todo lo que sucede a su alrededor, incluso si no es más que una testigo silenciosa. Perséfone escribe todo el libro como una serie de cartas a un amigo anónimo. Con el tiempo conoce personas que serán muy importantes en su vida, un enamoramiento de un joven Weasley y una gran amistad con personas que ira conociendo a lo largo de esta aventura.
