Aleksander didn't expect their tether to be so strong. He is drawn to her and he just doesn't want to resist this pull, he had already waited long enough to find her.

Or:
What if Baghra hadn't come to rescue her?
Not the common smut where they fuck after he comes back to her. There's plenty of that.
I mean, no one ever thought that she could find out about Marie's death?
Little fluff (to much fluff for the Darkling's mind).

The story will go deeper in the explanation of their bond (there will be telepathy), and a grey, maybe a little OOC, Alina.

Before this if you want you can read my other story 'The best thing that life ever gave him' set before the fete and from the Darkling's point of view.

After killing the stag and forcing the amplifier on Alina, the Darkling decides that letting Alina and Mal go might be a better investment. After all, the boy is only mortal, one day he will die and Alina will return to his waiting arms. "I'm not going to kill you, Mal. I don't need to. Time will do it for me" ________________________________ "All right." She did little to hide her shock. "What?" "You can go, Alina." She narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth but he cut her off before she could spew whatever distrustful comments she had planned. "You and the tracker can go and live out your merry little lives. Have your 50 years, maybe even 70 if you're lucky, and when your fantasy crumbles around you, you will see that only you and I remain. You will return to my waiting arms." ________________________________ !!! There will be SPOILERS both for the show AND the books (this includes elements from the KoS duology). !!! This fic will deal with heavy topics: war, violence, loss, grief, death, and manipulation will all be explored. There are mentions of SA and explicit dub-con scenes. The relationship between Alina and Aleksander is very much toxic throughout the story and it will for the most part remain toxic. Moreover, nothing in the story is meant to be taken at face value, rather, themes and actions were left morally grey, so to be explored and dissected by the reader. If these are themes that will trigger you or make you uncomfortable PLEASE do not engage. The Darkling just sits there and stares at me, observing me the way he always does. Moments pass, I become frustrated and snap at him. "Well? Are you going to yell at me? Hurt me? Tell me how you are the only one that I am equivalent to in my eternal life, so I should rely solely on you? He raises an eyebrow. "All of those would be sufficient options, but no." I scoff in response before asking, "then... what are you going to do with me?" He reaches out and traces the features of my jaw and face. He replies, "well that will depend on you." "Me?" I ask warily. He moves a strand of hair out of my face and continues to caress my cheek. "Yes," he exhales. "I don't want you to hate me, Alina. It is up to you to decide whether you want me to be your villain or your husband." #1 darklina 10/24 #1 shadowandbone 12/22 #1 fantasy-romance 2/24 #1 darkling 8/24

The Sun Summoner learns that a time of peace can become a time of chaos and upheaval in the blink of an eye. As quickly as one war ends, another can emerge. Alina must protect her country as Queen while making sure that the Darkling doesn't revert to his old villainous self, or else all they have built will come crashing down. This is a sequel to The True Saint, but can be read separately. The world is based off of the Shadow & Bone Netflix series/ books by Leigh Bardugo. Book cover art by: misticarts on tumblr ________ |PREVIEW| ------------- The Darkling raises his hand in a motion I know all too well. Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. "I will do anything in my power to protect you, my Dear Alina. Anything."
