People say if you look to long in her cold eyes you can feel the dead. It's like the dead himself would watch you. She never failed a mission. She is the deadliest assassin in the world and she is working for S.H.I.E.L.D. 

She escaped the Red Room. 

She tried to live with a Family but realized that something like Family is just a burden she doesn't want to cary. Just living was to boring. She missed her missions and what she is feeling when she is doing what she is doing.

Fighting, lying, killing, manipulating. She does all that without feeling guilt. She never learned feeling it so she thought it wouldn't be worth to start with it. 

She is the daughter of Tony Stark. But what was she doing in the Academy for the most deadliest Assassins.

A product of a one-night stand. 

Coincidence that the daughter of such a powerful man landed there?

Though Zola can hardly speak English or understand what is happening to her, she builds relationships with her mother, whom she used to be denied of seeing. She gets closer to Clint, who she genuinely believed was her father. She didn't know any better. Thankfully, she was happy to lose the one relationship she never asked for. She'd longed for a father figure, but the relationships she had with everyone in the Red Room, especially the Winter soldier, were not that. As unfortunate as it was for Bucky, who wanted nothing more than to be a part of his daughter's life, he was forced to watch her grow up in someone else's care from a distance. They wiped him so often, he would hardly remember her, anyway. Still, in the small moments where he could remember, he hoped that one day he would win her trust back as Bucky, not the Winter Soldier that she knew. BOOK ONE IN ZOLA BARNES SERIES.
