Kana Archeron has spent her entire life being hated. As Nesta's twin and being born three minutes before she believes it is her job to protect her half sisters.  Half sisters, the term nagged at her since the day she first learned of her mother's mistakes. Her mother had slept with two people in the same night, her sisters father, and her own. The King of Rask. 
War is upon them, Kana and her sisters will be at the front. As the human-lands High Commanders of War.

Her family was now gone, leaving her the sole survivor. She had never expected to be saved that day of the attack, especially not by the Shadowsinger. She had not even been able to thank him before watching him fly off to rejoin the battle... Though guilt and grief consume Julia, she tries to find ways to continue living in Velaris without her memories consuming her. When she almost slips into the Sidra, a familiar face is there to catch her, just as he had saved her before. Confused and conflicted, Julia finds comfort in Azriel and it appears as though he finds comfort in her as well. Will the unlikely pair form an alliance to aid each other? Or will grief ruin any chance of happiness between the shadow and the light?
