(Book 1) In the world of Beastars, humans are considered a rarity. Mostly due to them isolating in large groups away from animal society. Legends, myths, and stories are created around them. One specific group is offshore on an island, separated by a man made wall and ocean straight to the animal city. Only one-way in and out which is by the bridge that connects the mainland to the island. But due to past incident, the human government complete broke off diplomatic relations. Only thing that continued was trade. 17 years later, a certain young woman by the name Mary Dragonheart wants to experience animal society with her two cousins and best friend. They will encounter reality, and have their perspective changed forever. Including by a certain grey wolf. Join Mary as her life is flipped upside down.

She is now brought in as an experiment for her new life outside her facility to see if humans can co-exist with different other species. A certain wolf gets quite attached to our human friend as he is tasked to protect her.
