Ares never was one for logic, for thinking things through. Prometheus had often thought that Ares was his antithesis. No, not like Damsen, not in the way one might think. Prometheus was not a peacemaker, yet he didn't oppose war. He was the titan of forethought, someone who believed in thinking things through and making the right decision. Ares was certainly the opposite of that. 

    This idea, that Ares is a soul of impulsivity, could be proved by looking at any occasion where Ares had to make an important decision, whether it be about war or about which lovers to take. He was a god of war, a god of brute strength, and thus his mindset would be his downfall. 

    This is the story of how the spirit of battle's biggest problem turned out to be his intense struggle with a pickle jar.

It was suppose to be regulare Winter Solstice. The first one after the second war. The usual boring meeting of the gods that was to take place. The event to happen after was what many gods, satyrs, nymphs and demigods looked forward to. The party that would be hosted on Olympus. All Olympians were together. Some of the demigod children were also in the throne room talking amongst themselves, ironically most argued with the children of the gods their parents were arguing with. Though it all came to a halt when Hestia stood up and walked through a door that appeared in the middle of the throne room. Worried for their sister/aunt the other Olympians followed. The demigods that were also in the room followed suit. They were all greeted by the sight of a simple hearth inside a rustic looking home. A little girl whose form seemed to shift. Though their attention was drawn to the young male who was adding a log to the fire before he noticed them. "Ah, come take a seat. Welcome to the Hearth's Home." Came a warm greeting from the male. Without noticing they all put their weapons away.

It was purely by chance that I discovered how Horus of Egypt became the fearsome god of war, Ares in Greece, and later the terrifying Odin in Scandinavia. Initially, Horus was not a god but a mere mortal. The goddess Isis, unable to have a legitimate child, adopted Horus from a young age. Living among the gods, the young man received a special drink that greatly increased his physical strength. In Greece, Horus was called Hercules, a demigod of colossal strength. Taking up arms to defend Egypt, Horus became an invincible warrior, capable of defeating entire armies on his own. In Greece, he became Ares, the powerful and invincible god of war. However, his thirst for power and the glory of battle led him down a dangerous path. From protector, he became conqueror, thirsting for blood and war. His actions, becoming increasingly reckless, led him to commit an unforgivable betrayal, which banished him from Egypt and exiled him to the icy lands of Scandinavia. There, under the name Odin, he became the god of warriors, a figure both revered and feared.
