"'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately. Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me. 'That was awkward.'" ~~~ Junior year is starting off chaotic for Mackenzie Brooks as she steps into her role as the editor-in-chief of the college's newspaper. She's smart, focused on school, the paper, and her TA responsibilities. Junior year should be starting off easy for Dane Sawyer. He's the star pitcher of the baseball team; attractive, athletic, desirable, with a hot girlfriend. Unfortunately, he's also failing computer science which is the one thing he sees that is in the way of his pro career. Different in more ways that one, when the two run into each other in the library, it's an immediate disaster. But when Dane convinces Mackenzie to be his tutor, both of their lives begin to change.

"The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out. His lips trail down my neck, sending shivers all over. "I love looking at you," he breathes, brushing the hair off my shoulders. "Will you let me look at you?" My heart hammers, a wild thing seeking his. "Yes." So he does. And I feel it. For a long moment, I just feel his eyes. Then, his hands. They skim down my spine, bowing my body into his. When his lips find my throat, I lean back into his hands, my eyes closing. He kisses between my breasts, then across them, taking my nipples into his mouth, swirling his tongue, sucking, and kissing, always kissing. I gasp lightly, my fingers curling into his hair. His response is a smile against my skin. He explores the expanse of my chest, my stomach, my shoulders. He pulls my arms out to kiss them, all the way to my wrists...all the way back. He presses affection into my skin, injects trust into my veins. Then he eases me to my back and does it all over again. ******* An obscure tutoring opportunity brings Camila closer to three friends: Noah, Jed, and Fox.
