Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories. Book 1 - Saved By The Devil ✅ Book 2 - Return Of The Devil ✅ Book 3 - Crowned By The Devil ✅ Book 4 - War With The Devil ✅ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scene from book: Her mouth dropped and she looked at Lucifer. "You should just fire her" she growled. "No" he simply stated whist looking at me. I let out a groan and cursed. "Of course not. You want to know why he wouldn't fire me" I asked looking at Gabriela. She turned to me as if it was yes. "Don't you go there" he growled. I turned to him, "Let me quit or I will go there" he threatened. "No" he stated. I turned back to Gabriela, "He wouldn't fire me because he still wants me around him. He can't stand to be without me" I yelled. She gasped and shook her head. "You're sick" she said looking at me in disgust. "No. I'm actually healthy. Thank you very much and it's the truth. He still loves me and I wouldn't let him back in my life. Since I wouldn't let him back in my life he would follow me around so there was a deal. If I worked for him then he would stop popping up around me so I took it" I explained. She started at me for a couple of seconds and turned to Lucifer. "Is that true" she asked. Lucifer turned away from me and looked up at her. He mouth opened, "...No, she's crazy" he said in a straight tone. My mouth dropped and stared at him in shock. "Just as I thought. You're sick" she scoffed. I kept my eyes n Lucifer as he looked back at me. I forced a smile on my face. "Fine. You want me to work? I'll work" I said turning around. I walked to my desk and sat down. Mike and Jake gave a small smile and continued back to work. I turned in my chair to see Lucifer and Gabriela kissing. ~~~~~~~~~~ This book contain graphic images and scenes such as sexual contains in some part. This book also contains swearing.
