It's 1899 and Jack Kelly who's a 17 year old painter and singer for Medda Larkin in her theater in Manhattan New York, he ran into 16 year old new stagehand and author Davey Jacobs who was captivated by the older boy's voice and charisma as well as his artwork. When the theater was slammed one particular night it caused Davey to stay and work late he ended up running into Jack again who was staying late painting a backdrop while singing to pass the time which drew Davey to listen. A few months passed as Jack started growing feelings for Davey.
