Since the Great War, life on the Isles has not been easy. Plagued by cursed magic and run by the corrupt nobleman of the Council, the Isle of Flame is not the paradise it once was. Now covered in fire and overrun by the Magic Mafia, its fate hangs in the balance.

Denali has finally come of age to enter the Procuring. To her dismay, she has been chosen to live and serve the most powerful magic mafia leader in all of the Isles, Colt Shadows. Terrified of what her life will entail with him, Denali is determined to keep herself safe and secluded at all costs. But in time, she discovers that Colt may not be what he was rumored to be.

Together, Denali and Colt must navigate their relationship, breaking the cursed magic of their homeland, and overthrowing a corrupt government. Through adventure and rebellion, they learn that the power to save the Isle of Flame has been in front of their eyes the whole time.

When 17-year-old Ren Taylor is swept off a ferry during her family vacation in Scotland, she ends up in a hidden world of bagpipes and whisky, populated by fairies with tails and scales. She learns that she's the kingdom's long-lost princess. Once the shock wears off, she finds solace in the kingdom, from her newfound friendship with the hunky and consistently kilt-clad stable manager to the haughty prince Ren comes to love as her brother. Everything is exactly as the stories said it would be. Well, not everything. Ren can't perform the magic that should be her birthright as princess. When she digs deeper, she discovers that it was all a mistake. Ren isn't the princess. She isn't even a fairy. Reeling, she sets out to find answers, and the true princess. She finds her, but the princess doesn't seem as ignorant of magic as she claims to be. As Ren learns more, she comes to suspect that the princess is plotting to kill the prince. She could go home now, pretend that the whole thing was a dream, not risk her very human life in this magical battle - but if she does, the prince will die, and the kingdom will fall into the hands of their enemies. CASTLE OF FLAME is a YA contemporary fantasy, complete at 99,000 words. It is a total of fifteen chapters. The protagonist is biromantic asexual, and there are a bunch of queer supporting characters. The story includes: · found family · Highland ponies · road trip woes · one bed trope (but gay) · coexistence of magic & science · swoony romance & epic friendships · sympathetic villain TW: gun violence, death, kidnapping, torture (implied), homophobia, internalized acephobia (this only comes up twice - this is not a book where the character struggles with her asexuality), destructive house and forest fires.

Unbeknown to Nikki, her next delivery will offer her two choices; deliver the package and die or flee and be forever hunted by demons. On a routine delivery, Nikki meets a handsome stranger in the wrong part of town. After this brief encounter, she finds herself thrust into a bloodthirsty, apocalyptic war that has been raging, unseen, around mankind for centuries. Devoid of an escape route she must learn to survive with the help of her demon slaying Guardian, Josh, and his band of unearthly cohorts. However, Nikki soon finds herself plagued by doubt as her Guardian refuses to answer any of her questions. Discovering her ability to produce fire only makes the situation worse as she finds herself unable to quench the overwhelming fury that comes with it. Leaning on Josh for support, Nikki's attachment to him grows but so does her suspicion and resentment. Realising that Josh is the cause of her inability to control her deadly weapon Nikki is left with little choice but to leave him. Out on her own, she must confront her darkest fear, not the demons that hunt her but the ones within. Faced with this choice, Nikki must either accept who she is and join those who oppose Josh, or fight that which attempts to consume her and risk the lives of the man she loves and all who stand with him.
