Caitlin left Central City when she found out Barry was planning to get back with Iris who happened to be pregnant. 

She didn't want to burden Barry so she left to National City only to discover that she too was pregnant. 

She couldn't go back to Central City, she couldn't tell Barry and take him away from his family. 

She decided she would raise this child alone and give her the best life she could. 

Only Cisco and her mother knew and they helped her from time to time and became a good family for little Dawn Snow. 

But when Team Flash needs Caitlin's help and Barry's life is in danger she has no other choice to go back in Central City after so many years.
