He missed his wife. Period. He hated feeling weak but what he hated the most was to act as if his wife's disappearance didn't matter to him. It did. A lot. He couldn't tell if he loved her the first moment he saw her out in the woods, or if it was the second or the third or the fourth. But he remembered the first moment he looked at her walking towards him and realised that somehow the rest of the world seemed to vanish when he was with her.

Ertugrul Bey missed Halime Sultan. In every sense possible.

❛Ertugrul Bey. ❜

A soft feminine voice. His ears perked up but soon he let out a sigh. This was not Halime. Never could be.

❛Come in, Aslihan Hatun. ❜

Aslihan Hatun was not a bad woman, Ertugrul would admit. But she was not Halime. Her only flaw was that she was not Halime and that was the biggest flaw. He could survive with her. But he didn't want to survive. He wanted to live. Live with Halime.

It was pathetic, to be honest. Pathetic that how much he still hoped it's him and her in the end.

❛Bey, the food is prepared,❜ She smiled at him warmly but how could he smile back when in his eyes, he could reminisce Halime's cheerful yet magical smile?

❛Get my food in here, Aslihan Hatun,❜ He sighed. ❛I wish to eat alone right now. ❜

He knew he was being unjust with his wife. He knew that he was not acting according to the Sunnah. But only Allah knew how much his heart ached at the thought of interacting with Aslihan in the same way he did with Halime.

He tried his best. Tried his best to find her. It was unusual. One moment she was sleeping peacefully inside the tent and the next moment, she was gone with all of her belongings, leaving a young Gunduz and a broken heart behind.

You promised, Halime Sultan. You gave me your word. You filled me with hope and security.

You promised you wouldn't. But you did. You left me and my son. And you gave up on us.

"If you didn't love me in the first place then you shouldn't have married me." She said, her heart sinking knowing that she didn't have a place in his heart. "Do you think I wanted to?" He spoke, turning his face to the side looking at her over his shoulder. "If it wouldn't have been for Zain then I wouldn't have ever!." He stated. She didn't knew how she could muster up so much courage to stride towards him and turn him by holding his hands as she made him face her. Standing on her tiptoes she was a bit his level as she caught hold of his collars. "Tell me you're lying. Tell me that it wasn't just for Zain. Tell me you're doing this because you're angry with me. Tell me that's it's all a lie!" She exclaimed at the end, her tears rolling down her cheeks freely. He looked at her for a second before he caught her hands which were on his collar and removed them, and holding her wrist, he turned it behind her back as he fiercely pulled her closer to him, his eyes staring deep into her. "Even if I am, you have lost the right to ask me that." He stated coldly. "Why!" She exclaimed. "Why did you behave so sweet with me all this time, when you had already planned to end this relation. Why did you filled this void life of mine with happiness and joy. You should have just let me be!" Her eyes held the anger and pain which her heart was feeling. "Just to let you know how it feels to be betrayed." With that said, he let go of her and moved back. *** The only things that mattered in Shumail Ibrahim's life were his friends and his work. "Leave me alone, Azlan," Shahana choked out, her voice tight with anger and despair. "I'm not going anywhere with you." Ignoring her pleas, Azlan reached for her wrist, his grip firm but not brutal. Shahana flinched, the memory of countless similar moments flashing before her eyes. She tried to pull away, but his hold was unwavering. Desperate, she cast a pleading glance at her father, who stood frozen, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. His wife reached out to comfort him but was stopped by a subtle shake of his head. "Azlan, listen to me," Shahana said, her voice shaking. " I don't want to be in this relationship anymore. I want a divorce." The words hung heavy in the air, met with a tense silence. Azlan's jaw clenched, his eyes hardening. He wouldn't let her go, not without a fight. Yet, amidst the fire of his determination, a flicker of pain flickered across his face. Shahana, emboldened by the spark of vulnerability, shifted her gaze towards her in-laws. "Baba," she pleaded, her voice trembling slightly. "Please ask Azlan to stop. I don't want to leave with him." Azlan's father, a man known for his calm demeanor, took a hesitant step forward. "Azlan," he began, his voice measured. "Perhaps we should all..." Before he could finish, Azlan cut him off, his voice laced with a controlled fury. "No, Dad. This is a private matter. Let us handle it." Even in the heat of his emotions, respect for his family shone through. He may be a ruthless businessman, but he wouldn't disrespect his father, the one person he truly valued. However, on this issue, he was determined to have his way. Ignoring everyone, he marched towards his car, grabbed her arm, and ushered her into the passenger seat. Without a word, he started the engine and sped away.

"...Don't show that you cared about my happiness, when you actually didn't. I doubt if you ever truly did care." I whispered the last part menacingly at him, clenching my jaw as my eyes filled with tears. The way his face hardened and his eyes dilated, I assumed he heard me as a muscle in his jaw ticked. I lowered my pointing finger and wiped my tears furiously from the back of my hand, looking away. "It's good that you got to know about everything before this marriage facade got out of our hands. Now, you'll realize that you never had any feelings for me and it was just an infatuation." He scoffed, looking away. His adam's apple bobbed as his veins popped out lividly. "Don't you dare insult my love, Wali! My love for you was so pure. You know what? You don't even deserve it." I told him, swallowing the lump in my throat. My voice came out harsh as my breath grew thin and ragged. I tried to control myself, reminding there were people in this house.
