We've all heard the stories where the good guys win and the bad guys lose. Where the wicked witch of the west is turned to ooze or the evil stepsister gets what she deserves. Dorthy goes back to Kansas and Cinderella gets her happily ever after. What makes a villain the bad guy anyway? Are any of them truly born evil? Sometimes people become the villain because the ones they love the most crave to be the good guy. They will do anything in their power to help them achieve their goal of being the hero of the story, even if it means ruining their chance for a happily ever after.

Through the darkness, the computer screen illuminated the pale skin of Adelae's face around the black mask. Scrolling through the submitted questions, she came across one that made her smile. "Dear Lady Shade," She read aloud to herself. "Why did you choose to be a villain instead of a hero?" She chuckled, shaking her head at the simple, loaded question, before selecting it and opening the page to write a reply. "Hello Blogger KittyStan41. I bet you're expecting the classic tragic backstory in response to this question." she typed. " Dead parents, treated like trash as a kid, and it all came to a choice between rising to defeat my inner demons or succumbing to them. Well, my real answer is possibly something you haven't considered about the world of Heroes and Villains. Answer this for me, what is the goal of a hero? To make the world a better place, perhaps? No, dear KittyStan41. The classic goals of the Hero might seem epic and noble, but in the end it all comes down to stopping the Villain. What kind of life is that, when your only goals derive from the actions of someone else? Your whole life is used up as a preventative measure. Now does that sound like a good way to live? "I chose to be a villain not because I enjoy hurting people, but because I have goals that I plan to achieve. Don't bother asking what they are. If I told you, everyone would know, and people (baby heroes) would get in the way. Then how would I achieve them? I aspire to more. Is there need for a better reason?"

••• In a world of heroes there will always be a villain. Because wherever there's a hero around, there will be a villain lurking in the shadows. Because that's common sense right? For every hero, there's a villain. Hero's wouldn't be needed if there weren't bad guys for them to stop. So every story has a villain. This story is about a villain. But what if the villain is actually not so evil at all. What if she's just a girl, being punished not because of what she did. But for what her father has. Is that fair? You don't get to pick your parents. But you do get to pick and decide how you, yourself will act. This is a story about a girl. Maybe evil, maybe good. But under all the labels thrown at her, she's just a girl. Forced into a life she didn't want. Forced to go to school with people who look down on her. Forced by her father to follow a plan. A plan to make the world's most loved boy, the prince, to fall in love with her. All so that her father can get what he wants. But her father didn't think of one slight flaw. The fact that his daughter, is just a girl. And even if he's a prince, he's just a boy. And could it be more obvious? Naturally, one is bound to fall in love.
