Captain Margaret Kazansky, callsign Prince, was sick of military men.  Her higher-ups tended to be misogynistic.  Her best friend and RIO Andrew Harper was among the few who refused to underestimate her.  She just ignored them and kicked their asses in her plane.  When she gets the message that her overseas deployment is being cancelled and she is being sent to Top Gun, she just wished they'd given her a more extended notice.
