People are afraid of beautiful things.

Beautiful things must stay undefiled and perfect. Crown jewels mustn't get dusty, after all. They remain unmoving and are only aired out when necessary.

Why else are museums so quiet? Art can only be observed from a distance-at arm's length. Various paintings, pieces, calligraphy, and pressed flowers securely placed in their respective frames, trapped behind glass and gold.

Take one step too close and the deafening alarms will sound. You will be chastised for your insolence.

Ayaka learns this far too late.

What's worse is that she is the one trapped in the picture-perfect frame. She cannot escape and must shoulder her burdens behind closed doors. Those moments when the large crowd's awe turns to fear makes Ayaka feel like she is breaking inside.

Ayaka thinks that she is just herself. (No, not really.) She is a princess and must act like it.

Yet, the strings of fate were inescapable. Many years ago, Zhongli, previously Morax - the Geo Archon Rex Lapis - first encountered Kamisato Ayaka when she was a young butterfly with the weight of a nation upon her shoulders. Touched by her earnesty, he guided her in many things and was one of the few that genuinely tried to understand her. In return, her selfless heart embraced him wholly - whoever he was in the past, everything he is right now, and all that he would become. Their friendship grew slowly into a companionship most can only dream of. However, the love that burns with the brightest flame also leaves the deepest scars. Unforeseen challenges arise that threaten everything they had built together. The Head Lord and the Rat Thief {Kamisato Ayato FanFiction}

106 parts Ongoing

Caiome was the ghost of any nation. You could never feel her presence, seeing her in a crowd was even harder, and you found out that the money from your pocket had disappeared only when you tried to look for it. She appears and disappears without leaving a trace. She steals from jewelry and valuable items to artifacts and important documents that she used only to play with the order of nations, and she watched everything from a distance, amused. Caiome was never caught. She was nothing but a gust of wind blowing through the city in search of a new victim. She never aroused suspicions. She had a variety of masks that she wore as if they represented her genuine intentions. She speaks lies just as she speaks truth. No one posed a threat to her. That's because, of course, she hadn't met the right adversary yet. And she didn't expect to be blackmailed with the most important thing she possessed.
