After the battle of New York Loki was taken back to Asgard and everything continued as normal up until Dark World. Odin ruled that Loki would be sentenced to complete solitary confinement on behalf of his 'dangerous tendencies'. The concil gave no protest to this decision and the ruling went smoothly, even after Thor's strong disapproval. When the dark elves attacked  Asgard Loki was not there to tell the elves where to go causing an injured Frigga and nothing more. 5 years have passed since New York and Thor has discovered the truth of Loki's role in the battle.
