Katolis and Duren have left the Pentarchy and formed the Xadian Union with Xadia. The Xadian Union are at odds with the Pentarchy as the Pentarchy refuses to give up dark magic. There is an uneasy cold war between the Xadian Union and the Pentarchy with violent hostilities breaking out every now and then. Internal turmoil threatens to tear Katolis apart as not everyone is happy with King Ezran's rule. Meanwhile, Kim'dael the Bloodmoon Huntress is still alive in Xadia, will she be an ally or enemy to the Pentarchy?

Outside Xadia and the human kingdoms lies the unknown outsiders who have not made their move yet. Who are they and what are their goals? Is Callum's father still alive? What does Callum's father know of the outsiders and their strange magic?

Callum, Ezran and Rayla join hands with Xadia in hopes of ridding the world of dark magic. Meanwhile Soren is forced to act as a spy for Del Bar, his loyalty wavers between Katolis and Del Bar.

Most characters will be evil yet have somewhat understandable motives.
