Castiel is an only child of Hades and Persephone. He's a Demi-God, arrogant, spoiled, with a heart turned black instead of red. Every millennia the 'Old Gods' are replaced; and as the only heir to the Underworld throne, Castiel - newly twenty-one - is in need of his equally sinister other half to rule beside him and must first marry before taking his rightful place on the throne. And thus, each God chooses six girls from all around the world above to compete for the darkest heart of them all.

------------------------------------

Told from the point of view of a competitor, Ariel Caverly is newly dead and offered the choice of a lifetime: become the new Queen of the Underworld or face Judgment.

She's a small town London girl with more secrets than friends and is thrust into a world full of love triangles, hard decisions, betrayal and friendship found in the most unlikeliest of places. Ariel is every inch a Queen even without a crown. Just because she's dead, doesn't mean her life is over . . . it's just a new beginning.

*to be edited: please excuse any continuity errors and / or mistakes in regards the writing quality of Hades* Ellie is just like every other normal eighteen year old girl in the world, except for one big reason. She's the daughter of Hades. And an immortal goddess in charge of managing suicide in the world. And she's been locked in the darkness of the Underworld for her entire life. So basically, her life couldn't get any more abnormal if she tried. Ellie longs to experience life like everybody else her age, but for as long as she can remember her parents haven't let her travel up to the surface, and she's been forced to imagine the upper world through the stories her mother told and the books she read. Until, one day, her parents finally give in and let her go up to the surface to see the world through her own eyes, and her world explodes with colour. Then, just when she thinks her life couldn't get more exciting, she stumbles across a very particular green-eyed god; one who throws her perfectly organised world into complete chaos and shows her what it means to live in the light. But what Ellie doesn't know, is that the Fates have a prophecy for her. A prophecy that she couldn't escape if she tried. A prophecy that has tangled it's gnarled fingers into the threads of her life, and may just throw the world into the darkness Ellie has spent her whole life trying to escape. "He's the son of Aphrodite, she's the daughter of Hades. He's light, she's the oncoming darkness. He advocates for love, she's the embodiment of death. What could possibly go wrong?" School and home were Rossiya's personal hell, so when a man with peculiar eyes shows at at her school claiming to be a friend of her deceased parents and that she is the sole heir of their fortune; she all but jumps at the opportunity of a better life. However she has no clue that opportunity came with throwing her into a world that was only supposed to exist in fairytales and folklore. But before she could even get her bearings fate flipped her the bird by pairing her with none other than the cold and lonely God; Hades. In most cases it would've been happily ever after but things become difficult when your own mate can't even stand the mere smell of you. There is no creature, living or undead, mortal or supernatural that loathes the idea of their other half; well except Hades. Because unlike everyone else he knows what she is; which isn't even the main reason for his hostility. His heart was taken from him once and as cold as he is, the god doesn't want to go down that road again. If he could avoid the issue of a mate or queen altogether he would, they both would. However, circumstances force the two together. A marriage of convenience, purely for the benefit of the literal world. But whether or not the sword hanging above their heads will bring them together or tear them apart is up to them. But nothing good is ever easy, and their adversaries will make sure of it.
