Some are missing limbs, and some are missing and eye, or both. They don't even appear to be alive to the boy. They look his way but don't mind him. Tommy is confused and scared. He can slightly remember this place to be his once home, and it makes him upset that's it's gone to such shit, and scared by everyone's screams and the fires and the fighting, and mostly, the fact that some people are eating each other. He doesn't take the threat all that seriously, until Jessie-his only protection-is accepted into a college hours away and will be leaving him. That guy vouching for him is basically the only reason that Skylar's dad has put up with his least favorite son's shenanigans all these years. So, the threat starts to feel more real. Then, it happens, and the only person left for Skylar to rely on is Ashton Rivera-who he begins to realize has some serious secrets. Secrets not even Jessie knows. Secrets that become Skylar's new mission to investigate every detail of. - [!!WARNINGS!! This book will deal with serious topics such as addiction and crime. Salem's passed that, he's over Atlas Marino and he always will be. He will ignore that scratch in his record, and cover it up with his success. Salem is offered a job to help with an investigation that could benefit his future career astronomically. He thinks it's a win-win situation, he gets the recognition he desires, and the streets will be that much safer. It's all black and white to him, easy to understand. He likes the order, and he craves the accomplishment of defeating bad with good. It's all black and white. Until he gets caught in the grey.
