Remember those stories you were told as a small child, perhaps by an older sibling or friend? Ones about creatures that lurk in the shadows just waiting to attack. They were told to terrify us and it would work. Sometimes you would lay awake in bed afraid to fall asleep, then a parent would calm you down and assure you that in no way were the stories real. You would then relax, trusting your parent's judgment. That's how things use to be, but only too late now have we realised those scary stories are very much alive.

Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. Not until we found ourselves standing in the light and discovered: We no longer had shadows.

7 years ago, an infection spread throughout Earth's population. Many were turned into what can only be described as a zombie. The cause of this infection? Vampires. Vampires have been trying to take over the Earth for centuries. They faced many problems, the main one being their lack of numbers. Turning humans is a dangerous process for both the humans and vampires. The vampires hired scientists to create a synthetic venom to turn humans into vampires. Their first prototype was tested prematurely. It gave the human test subjects extreme speed and strength for 1 hour. They escaped and infected hundreds. The infection spread and mutated till the Earth was overrun by different kinds of hungry human - eating zombies. Vampires aren't the only supernatural creatures. Most of the others have gone into hiding, trying to wait it out. Werewolves, however, are the mortal enemies of vampires. They have formed a guard that protects humans day and night. Dogs are a man's best friend right?

Only one of these symptoms were possibly true. Being sent to live with her Aunt for her junior year, she quickly learned two things. 1. Never go out deer hunting with her cousin and her obnoxious friends. 2. She needs a new prescription and higher dosage of medication, because nobody was going to believe her, not even her therapist when she says " I accidentally shot a werewolf, and he called me his mate?"

The priest chirped his words despair in the air and I listened to it from the height to the cliffs. The air was rigid and frost clung onto my skin as people thought I out of everyone was dead. I escaped the beatings after my father had gone insane, but war is leaking out because of me the biggest mistake alive. The reason is I can see parts or snippets of the future not to mention I have yet to shift nor can I ever hear my wolf again. The guilt has sunk into my heart and I have dug myself a grave for being as young as 15. Life was so simple. So much more carefree and just generally free to do as you please and not have to worry about every little thing. Key word being 'was'. The second you receive your wolf you know your in trouble. It's when the rolling hills and valleys turn into mountains and canyons taunting you to enter. But you can help it cause to get to the other side and pass the finish line you gotta climb those mountains and fall deep into the canyons. But of course teenagers even like obstacles especially when they are still tying to fun themselves. Some may be more outspoken then others and some may be the the tiniest bit too mature but they have to learn one way or another. But what happens when a pack of wolves flirting at first start being the bigger picture and that being this free wasn't going to last forever. Feelings come and go just like people but the day you turn of age that also changes. Mates is a hard word to swallow and acceptance becomes a challenge but not as challenging as sticking together as things are thrown their way, distractions are made and a few too many lies but too deep. Two Faces, One Wolf will be the only clue.
