The historical romance novel follows the story of Eleanor Campbell, a governess who has fallen on hard times after her parents committed suicide due to financial struggles. Due to situations, Eleanor decided to become a governess for the daughters of the Duke of Arden, Elizabeth and Mary.

As Eleanor settles into her new role, she finds herself drawn to the Duke, despite the impropriety of their relationship. As she navigates the challenges of teaching the girls and maintaining her professional distance from her employer, Eleanor finds herself increasingly drawn to the Duke's strength, kindness, and intelligence.

As their relationship deepens, Eleanor and the Duke must navigate the expectations and prejudices of Victorian society, all while trying to find a way to be together despite the many obstacles in their path.
