     Elaine pergi ke pulau sunyi. Di sana ia tinggal di kediaman milik mendiang kedua orang tuanya. Ia berada di sana untuk menghibur hatinya yang patah akibat kepergian kedua orang tuanya dalam sebuah tragedi kecelakaan dalam perjalanan di Irlandia tiga bulan lalu.

     Namun, Elaine tidak menyangka, sore itu ketika ia duduk di tepi dermaga, angin kencang dan gelombang tinggi yang mengamuk tiba-tiba telah menghantarkan sebuah kapal layar besar berlabuh tepat di depan dermaga membuat ia sangat terkejut. 

     Seorang pria keluar dari dalam kapal. Ia menyebut namanya dengan sebutan Kapten Rick Halter, kemudian bertemu dengan Elaine di ujung dermaga.
