Nova Mitchell is an Avionics Engineer working on base at Miramar. Her life consists of diagnosing aircraft repairs, designing flight paths, controlling navigation systems, and making Top Gun fun again. 

When called in for a seemingly dangerous mission, she meets a certain fighter pilot on the way, and also runs into her father, Maverick.

Nova doesn't really know what to do when she falls  in love with the man who hates her father, Bradley Bradshaw.

Maverick doesn't know what to do either.
