ELIZABETH 'BETH' NEWELL'S life is pretty great. She's a gorgeous girl who's a school cheerleader and has a ton of amazing friends, not to mention a cute guy who she might go steady with soon. But her life is flipped upside down when she decides to go on a double date to the drive-in with her friend Sherri 'Cherry' Valance and her boyfriend. Randy, Beth's soon-to-be boyfriend, and Bob, Cherry's boyfriend, have been drinking. And they start to drink more on the date. Cherry and Beth do not agree with this, so they ditch their dates to go sit behind all the cars and watch the movie. This is where they meet Dallas 'Dally' Winston, Ponyboy Curtis, and Johnny Cade. Cherry and Beth can't stand greasers, but what happens when Beth sees something different in Johnny? Can a soc and a greaser really get along?
