"Same girl out in the middle of the night trying to light a spliff."

"I will jump you ho." you said reflexively, forgetting for a second that you were talking to a random guy in the middle of camp and not in one of the very common fights that usually broke out between you and your friend Nobu. "It's a joint, not a spliff. I don't want cancer."

"You also don't want a lighter, evidently." he replied, shrugging tiredly and turning around to leave.

"Wait."

The corners of his mouth lowered, but he followed your order and turned slightly to face you.

"I want it." you continued.

"Do you?"

You would have to tell your mother that sending her "delinquent" daughter to a sleep away camp to reform her bad habits didn't work well when everyone there had similar bad habits too. This wasn't what you expected for your first time at a summer camp, but there are so many layers that you will have to peel back in the four weeks you'll be here-especially the ones pertaining to a boy with overgrown blonde hair and a talent for talking back-that you feel the excitement brewing inside yourself.

Everybody's having fun with no worries except not being caught at the late-night parties in the rec room, the upcoming school year...and the impending doom that comes with growing up and accepting their last year of adolescence.
