Finnick Odair, a fisherman in District Four, gets caught up in a storm and finds something - or rather someone - legendary.

Every year each district has to donate a valuable offering to King Snow to celebrate the year's harvest. Failure to do so leads to a hunger game, where children from each district will be pitted against each other to fight to the death.

This year, District Four's fishing supply has been the most depleted it has ever been. With lives on the line, and the King growing impatient and hungry by the day, District Four's most outstanding fisherman, Finnick, has no choice but to set out to sail - much farther than any of the other fishermen go. 

What lies in the ocean is not what Finnick ever expected to find. The Mermaid legend was always that - a legend. Until he found her.
