Lydia has a secret. She isn't human. While living in a peaceful village on an island, she befriend a young boy named Buggy. They become bests friends forever. Buggy even makes a promise to her that he will return and have her as his best mate. 

But when the years go by, he returns as a captain of his own crew only to find the island deserted in a massacre and his best friend gone. Only to find out she was taken away by his mortal enemy...Arlong. He rescues a princess that looks like his friend but isn't sure is her. Just when he realizes it's her, he looses her again and promises himself to find her again.
