He may not be aware of it yet, but Carrie Lancefull, a senior student on the verge of graduating from Edison High School, has been chosen for a remarkable journey. At a young age, he witnessed a battle between his idol, Lady Lynn, now known as Cassidy, and Prince Flynn, now Lord, following the king's passing five years ago. Recognizing Carrie's potential, Prince Flynn intervened in his match against the formidable Amazon of steel. After defeating her, Prince Flynn spotted a young Carrie in the stands and requested a meeting. He marked Carrie with the royal symbol on his wrist, signifying his eligibility to join the Royal Tournament upon turning 18. However, Carrie's aspirations have since been dampened by his blindness, and the discouraging words of others have led him to consider abandoning his dreams. During gym class, he is accompanied by his friend Kayla and best friend Lucio, and later meets Aislinn and Airian, twin sisters who become his supporters. Despite being a weak level one, while his peers are at levels 10 and 15, the twins commence training him to improve his abilities. However, this progress comes at a price. Throughout the story, character development and multiple storylines will unfold, providing insight into Carrie's friendships and the world of Futurämous. As the narrative unfolds, the question arises: can Carrie overcome the challenges and rise to the top, particularly when faced with the daunting task of competing against one of his closest friends for the same coveted spot? This epic tale is filled with action, betrayal, tragedy, heartbreak, and hardship. Will Carrie emerge victorious, and what will be the cost of his success? When a group of four teenage friends are given a quest in a virtual reality video game to kill a powerful wizard, there's only one thing to do: gather the party and get to slaying. So what if one group member has no idea what they're doing, another has a lawful good god to appease, and the final two are bloodthirsty beyond belief? How hard could banding together and trekking through a monster-filled forest in search of a wizard tower be? ONC 2021 Prompt #59 - "Man I could kill for a good beer," you say. The bartender looks both ways before leaning towards you. "Do you mean that? Because there is someone I would like...disposed of." 1st place (tied) in Pretty in Punk March 2021 Mini Awards 2nd place in the Aeryn Awards 2021 ~ Action/Adventure 3rd place in the Campfire Awards ~ Action/Adventure 3rd place in the Opulence Writer's Awards ~ Action/Adventure Top rankings: 6th in #gamelit 8th in #contestentry 11th in #litrpg 15th in #dnd I don't own any of the images used in the cover, and both were modified.
