Let me paint you a picture: the world's most average, forgettable person, just coasting through life, like a C-list extra in a low-budget college movie. That's me-Kim Minji, the girl who's always in that fuzzy, out-of-focus part of everyone's memories. You know, like when you try to recall high school, and all you get is an epic montage of your friends living it up, awkward dances, and too many atomic pizza slices from the school's cafeteria-I'm the person you squint at in the yearbook and go, "Who the fuck is that?"

For the longest time, I was convinced I'd stay in that hazy, out-of-focus part of life. I was fine with it, too. Who needs to be the star of the show when you can just be the background? No pressure, no expectations-just a simple life of microwaved ramen, late-night cram sessions, and the occasional existential crisis about my major. You know, standard college stuff.

But then there was that party. The party that turned my background character ass into the main character. The one that made my life turn 180 and flipped my quiet world on its head.

"You don't love me, you can't love me." My body shakes uncontrollably as I fall to the ground, sobbing into my hands as I try to muffle the sound desperately. "Just let me love you, I can't love you if you won't allow me to idiot," a whisper echoes through the walls as he squats down next to me, placing his hand on my back, rubbing, small, reassuring circles. ... It was never supposed to be like this, why did I let this happen? Hyunjin and Y/n lived in the same neighborhood. They were best friends for the longest time until Y/n was forced to move schools right before high school. Four years have gone by and Y/n grew a new persona. She doesn't smile anymore like she used to, she doesn't wear her hair in pigtails, and she doesn't wear those big, round, glasses everyone used to make fun of her for. When she moved her parents took away all forms of communication from her, thinking that she didn't deserve the love and care she was getting. She managed to keep in contact with one friend because their parents were friends, but she lost all contact with Hyunjin. She felt horrible for it, she cared about him the most and never got to say goodbye like she planned. After her parents kick her out to go live with her grandparents, she moves back to her hometown hoping that no one will recognize her. Hyunjin felt betrayed when Y/n left, she left without a goodbye and didn't speak a single word to him in the past four years. Without her around, he grew close to Chan's group of friends. The summer before high school started, Hyunjin and his friends matured and all the girls in school found them attractive. They fought for the boys attention but Hyunjin only thought of Y/n regardless of all the pining girls. He hated that she constantly ran through his mind, wishing he could just forget about her. As everyone walks into their 4th period, two people catch each other's gaze. One feels guilt bubble up in their stomach and the other boils with resentment.

55 parts Complete

♡ A new city, new people, and the challenge of a rough university life that promised to shape her future. Minji knew what awaited her. She was no longer an irresponsible high schooler but an emerging adult. She promised to avoid silly crushes and distractions-a promise to herself. But that resolve wavered the moment she laid eyes on a pretty cashier. Maybe a fleeting attraction to a bookstore employee wouldn't be so bad Hanni captivated Minji: soft brown eyes, milky skin, waves of hair cascading over her shoulders, and, most of all, that mesmerizing smile. Minji found herself bewitched, unable to look away from Hanni's gaze, too deep to turn back. Surely, a harmless crush couldn't hurt. A story about love. . . . (Somewhat based off of Chapell Roan's song also titled 'Good Luck, Babe!') ⚠️DISCLAIMER: This is purely fictional and is not meant to be taken seriously. Separate fanfiction from reality.
