Elatha, a young human boy, has already lost so much of his happiness. With the death of his parents and being kept prisoner here on Saint Catalina Island by his abusive uncle, he is looking for a way out of his misery.
Skipping school, he wanders the beach, dreaming of sailing across the ocean to the mainland. However, his trip down the strand one early morning ends in discovering the deceased body of a little white fur seal.
Unwilling to leave it to the crows to make a bloody mess on his beach, he returns the seal back to the ocean where he prays that its parents will find it. However, as he entered the ocean to free the seal beyond the seventh wave, he was spirited away to the underwater Kingdom of Ayanasu.
Now reincarnated as a female selkie princess of Ayanasu, she must learn how to survive in the underwater kingdom, overcome her fears of the ocean, and fulfill her duties as a student and as a princess -- all while she continues to transform from a human into a selkie.
