On a familiar, yet different planet much like our own earth, magitech dominates the world. Familiar technologies exist, though with some that function on magitech instead. People sport cybernetic augments and have their spell execution accelerated by artificial casters. In the militaries of this alternate earth, magisters sling maelstroms of magic attacks at each other from their fighter jets and aerodynes, while power armored soldiers jump across buildings and throw cars like they'e oversized toys. In the cities, colorful buildings and holograms dominate the towering landscape, as massive fusion reactors give the world a near-limitless energy source.

In a world with wondrous technology far ahead of our own, and with the addition of magic, a certain individual was thrown into the mix.

A (self-proclaimed) handsome, young Danish astronaut and renowned engineer by the name of Frederik Mogensen had his journey cut short when a faulty component in his rocket decided that a rapid unscheduled disassembly was in order. But this was not the end for his, or should I say her, story, as she would be thrown face first into the Kalmar Federation.

But all was not as it should be, as Frederik ended up suffering the complications of cheating death when he shouldn't have.

You've just woken in the woods, away from everything you know. You're dazed and confused, unable to comprehend what's just happened. As you are coming to, images flash before your eyes of the last few days. Your parents were taken by the police, you were forced to run, to leave everything behind, to save yourself and your sister. But she isn't here. You panic and look around, you stop. You remember. She too was taken, you are alone. For now. This is what happened to Alexander, his life has just been turned upside down. The year is 2415, the world has both evolved and devolved. It isn't how people imagined. Flying cars, robots in every house, telekinetic pencils. No, they are only in comic books. Self driving cars. No robots in houses, but workhouses instead. Telekinetic pencils... that's possible, if you are gifted with the power of telekinesis. There are dark truths hidden behind closed doors, that only few know. Truths that if they got out, would bring the downfall of the government. A government that has been deceiving people for generations. But they haven't been as careful as they thought, because 100 years ago, one guy found out their secrets. 100 years ago, one guy started the rebellion that would bring about the end. From burning books, rewriting history and breaking human rights, this government will stop at nothing to make it seem that they are doing good. But people have had enough, the secret came out before. Together they work to find out the truth, but things have gotten worse over the last century and this may not only bring around the downfall of the government. Armed only the powers they were born with, the group do everything they can to discover the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She is eighteen years old and she paves her place in the world through training and quite frankly screwing up. Her world changes first when she falls in love with a handsome shifter and tilts on its axis again once she has to deal with a sudden illness in the royal family. Bestowed with the gift of magic, she begins to bond with her wand and she learns how to cast numerous spells that propel the plot forward: she leaves home to meet up with her shifter lover again in a realm called the Thewren Mountains. Blurb: Excellent for fans of GOT and the Sky Without Stars series by Jessica Brody Joanne Rendell! Look into this book if you are into a feminist hero who takes great risks to protect her family and stamp her legacy right in the Kingdoms's history. Excerpt: "This isn't fair. This isn't fucking fair! Father, you have a century's worth of fight left in you." I beat my hands against the bed, and stare at the King. Right in his lightless eyes. He raises his hand and strokes my hair. "The world does not play fair, daughter. The world plays in interest. Pour love into your brother and sister. I cannot chain you here, but I ask for your reason. No traveling." I nod, watching his hand grasp two capsules and depart.

"So who the heck am I?" I stared defiantly at Freya. "I am a normal person. I go to high school. I have parents. What am I ?" I asked. "That is what we need to find out. Do you trust us enough to stay with us? Help us? You are powerful. You are the only Palenthian, first time in centuries who has magic inside her. Powerful magic. More powerful than most Valen. I can feel it. Stay with us and help us slay monsters. Please." I gulped. "What will I get for that?" "Answers." Renna Evans was just another normal girl in another normal world, living with her normal (and filthy rich) parents and going to a normal high school. Basically her life was as normal as could be. Until she went on a normal walk on a hill side. Little did Renna know that from that point, her life would be anything but normal. Welcome to the world of Renna Evans; a world which is divided into two parts. Those who call themselves The Valenthians, possessing power and magic; and those without it are the Palenthians. What is Renna, really? Will she be able to do what is called upon her? Will she be able to place the pieces of the puzzle which will give her the perfect (or heart-shattering) picture of her past? Will she be able to prove her worth in this new world? Or will her world collapse? And what about the handsome but mysterious Ryan Carter? What exactly is he hiding? Renna will discover a world of peace and war, love and hatred, trust and betrayal; all in her single quest for one thing. FREEDOM.

☆ONC 2021 Honourable Mention and Shortlister☆ ☆One of Round Two Top Five Winners☆ ☆Multiple times featured☆ ☆☆☆ ☆This is a story about H. Ch. Andersen, about how he became a writer and why most of his stories are so sad and melancholic. Also, about why he never found real love... Yes, that's what I read about him (among other things)-- he kept falling in love with unatteinable women. My story portrays Hans Christian Andersen as a young, fourteen-years-old boy. It's set in Odense, Denmark, in the late summer of 1818-- soon after Hans' mother, a poor washerwoman, remarried (two years after his father's death) and shortly before he was sent to a school for poor children where he had to support himself. Where he became, to be able to afford his schooling, first a weaver's, then a tailor's apprentice, a singer, an actor and finally, once his excellent soprano voice changed, a writer. Hans and Louise, his (fictional) step-sister, seek refuge from a summer storm in an old shed. There, they meet Rosalind, a lost Flower Fairy. When they decide to help her find the Butterfly Fairy boy she loves and intends to marry, she takes them into a fantastical world of Terra Sonalis, her home. A land of dreams populated by fairies, goblins, elves, mermaids, talking animals... All those mysterious creatures that fuelled Andersen's imagination for the rest of his life. ☆☆☆
