Snow.

Her breaths were shallow as she listened. She'd been locked in this tower for nearly twelve full moons- enough! She couldn't take it any longer.

Her door opened to view her brother, stripped from all illusion-

"Sister" Frost murmured, the same sadness that resonated in her soul reflected in his eyes.

They both knew it had to be done- she knew he had to be in the palace to see the wreck their mother was causing after killing their father, incapacitating their grandmother and cursing their people.

Seven years of war made them ignorant of the internal wars they didn't realize they were overlooking.

"I have to go, if we have to survive, then I have to go." She whispered as she stood in front of her twin brother.

They knew it had to be done, so that attention will be focused on her because they'd assume they'd both escaped from this realm due to the natural assumption that they can't be apart from each other

"You cannot die, I beg of you." Frost said wrapping his arms round her frail frame. Once they'd disengaged from the hug, her eyes hardened from what was to come.

She turned and stretched forth her hand- she'd been practicing the witch side she'd gotten from her mother- to unveil the door she's kept hidden in her room. Her library-

It wasn't technically a library but a space she'd found where whatever she thought came to existence. Hence why she'd filled it with copies of books she'd read over the years long before the war-

"Will you come back?" Frost called as she opened the door that stood before before her.

She turned and smiled-

"Of course brother, this will always be home- we just need to regroup, so we'd win it once and for all." She answered as she pushed it open and walked in taking the door with her

In the beginning, there was nothing. Just a vast void of nothing. All consuming darkness. And then there was cold. Ice. The ice spread from the core of the earth to everything until the world was formed. And then there was heat. For a while there was war between heat and ice. They fought for dominion over the world. Ice was the first and believed it was to be in charge. Heat supported more life and believed it should be allowed to rule. Eventually, when both almost destroyed the world Ice had created, they decided to merge and rule together, to release both their powers over the world and create life. They did that and then they went to sleep, dormant in the village of Azarath, the village where the first witches were born. The village where it all began. ******************** "What am I? I'm not human as we all thought, that's for sure. I'm not a witch, I can't cast a spell to save my life! I'm not a vampire as the absence of the speed and fangs indicate. I'm not a werewolf as my remaining on two legs every full moon proves so what am I?" Kat shouted to the winds as they roared around her in the clearing she stood in. "Aren't you gonna answer me?!" she asked again, tears rolling out of her eyes as she began to rise above the ground, the power inside her threatening to overwhelm her. "You are nothing and you are everything" the reply finally came, silent but still able to be heard above the fierce winds. And then all of a sudden there was silence. There was nothing. ******************* This is book 1 of The Destined Five series. The other books can be found on my profile.

{Completed} Highest Ranking: #50 in Fantasy (05/19/17) Book. 3 I almost snorted. "You were scared of me?" I looked up at him, but he continued to watch Genius. "Foster, I was untrained and barely coming into my father's powers. I don't think I'll ever be a match for you." Physically. This time Foster looked down, truth shining in his eyes like sunlight reflecting off the polished surface of a lake. "I wasn't scared of your power, little pet." He said the nickname not out of anger or hate, but love and adoration. It was hard to imagine that at one point and time just hearing those words set my blood boiling... Now it was heated for another reason entirely. "I was scared that if I told you who you really were, you'd realize that I was no match for you." ------------ She is no queen. "Lilith! You little sneak!" Her sisters laughed as she remained perched on the tree branch. She leaned down, grinning, her brown hair falling like a curtain in front of her beautiful face. Her blue eyes were gleaming with mischief as she stuck her tongue out. "I always win at hide and seek." "Yes, because you're a sneak!" Nesta said, fondly chuckling. She slid off the tree eventually to join her parents and sisters for dinner, laughing, carefree. A few years later, she was hunting and killing, stealthy and quiet as a panther stalking after its victims. Nobody called her a little sneak anymore, nobody but that evil, traitorous voice in her head: and it certainly wasn't spoken with affection. ... Kallias' hands trembled more than he'd like to admit as he held his daughter for the first time: she looked like the perfect mix of her mother and father, only warmer, sweeter, as if to signal the war was over: warmer days had come. She had curly blonde hair, some shades darker than her parents' and blue eyes- the ocean's shade, not the ice's. Vivianne stood behind Kallias, her voice slightly wobbling as she looked at her- their child. "She's beautiful." She whispered, and harshly shallowed, trying not to cry. War was over- war was over, her family was alive, and nothing, absolutely nothing could go wrong anymore. "We will name her Amelia. It means soft in Ancient Greek. And soft she will be." Kallias muttered, running his fingers over his daughter's cheek. ... Two girls: one mortal and one Faerie. Two stories, one ending.

She wasn't sure how long she was in that pantry but couldn't come out until she was beyond certain that they had left. For a moment, she started to have hope that maybe they wouldn't be able to find her, but a voice spoke up, and fear flooded in once again. "You cleared out the upstairs, too, right?" "Yeah." "Do you remember calling me 'mate?'" he asked softly, pushing her wild curls away from her face. She blushed deeply, but he wouldn't let her look away. "You heard that?" He nodded with a smile. "It was the first thought she ever shared with me." Skylar pursed her lips. "She likes you very much." "What about you?" he teased gently. "How do you feel about me?" She set her jaw and once again managed to look down her nose at him while staring up at him. "Well... well, I'm rather fond of you, Orion." He let out a relieved laugh and pulled her into his chest again. "What a relief. I was worried it was just me." He nuzzled her temple, inhaling deeply, his dragon fully at peace. The words "I love you" were right on the tip of his tongue, but he knew it was too soon for that. He would have to hold them in just a little while longer. After reading yet another great older brothers/younger sister story, where the family gets reunited after years of separation, the sister keeps the secret that she was abused and assaulted all along, and the brothers conceal their work in the mafia, I decided to give it also a try. The output of my story was initially to turn this around with openness and unconditional support and the torture should happen right in front of their very eyes. Because no story is complete without the (un)necessary bloodshed, action, humour and, of course, a bad guy. And who knows, to throw everything completely upside down, the main character may not survive. I won't write warnings above each chapter, because most of them contain violence, blood, torture, etc. Constructive criticism is welcome. Ow, and English is not my first, second or third language. So if I mess up somewhere, let me know! Description: In a dystopian world, where the strongest prevails, having peace is a luxury. Especially when someone from the past is out to destroy everything we have built up over the past 15 years. And with Christmas approaching, our group get to face ten hellish days. Preview: In his fury, the chains have rubbed his wrists and neck raw, despite me trying to calm him down. He suddenly calms down when the screams in the cell next to us switch to the sound of bones breaking. Now he sits with foam on his lips and his eyes wide, looking that way. After ten minutes, the sounds of the boys in our cell have died down, and we all look at the wall that separates us from the crackling of the breaking bones. And then suddenly all is quiet. After a few silent minutes, our cell door opens slowly. From the ball of light from the ceiling, the little girl in the doorway is illuminated. She is completely covered in blood and doesn't move. Then she opens her eyes and carefully walks towards us. And despite everything, my first impulse is to crawl backwards, away from the unnatural calm radiating from her.

I felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side but I focused solely on my task until I was done. "This is a pillow barrier. Meaning, you don't breach this side of the pillows." I instructed, my voice firm. "What if I don't want anything between us?" Phoenix said in a husky voice, and I risked a glance. Bad choice. His eyes were dark and his gaze was on my lips, to my chest, then back to my lips. "Eyes up here, buddy." I snapped the third time his eyes went down to my chest. All he did was turn off the lights. When it was dark, he whispered," Can't I admire what is mine?" I had no answer, and turned on my side. He sighed. Despite taking two naps today, I was out cold the minute my head hit my pillow. I could only hope that in the morning, the pillow barrier was still there. ***** Adira has a secret, one she would do anything to protect. {Completed} Highest Ranking: #9 in Fantasy (02/01/17) Book. 2 Mab was as magnificent and alluring as always, her skin as pale as porcelain in the silvery moonlight. Her hair was a sterling gray, a curtain of silk running over her shoulders and down to her naval, her black dress a startling yet marvelous contrast to her pale beauty. I was captivated, for a moment, by the weight of her piercing gaze. I could see the years she lived there, the weight of the loss she'd endured, the heaviness of immortality. But yet, her stare didn't hold as much power as it used too. Not only could I see her burden, but I could see the fear of dying. ------------ Freak. Mutt. Half-Breed. Eve Scotts has left the Winter Palace in shackles with Sebastian, whose memories were wiped clean, stumbling beside her. But she can't forget everything she'd left behind: her people who desperately need her - to save them from her cruel mother, Mab, and a certain elven knight that made her question everything - Foster Quinn. He helped her in her time of need, and involuntarily, she fell for him. Determined to save Foster from her mother's evil clutches, Eve must convince Akan Ford and the rest of the Order to allow her to slip back into Tir Na Nog to steal her mothers amulet, and retrieve Sebastian's memories. And possibly end the devastating reign of Queen Mab. But there's a problem. Eve's guilt is eating her alive. She just can't get over killing Sebastian's sister. A storm is brewing, thick and heavy and the secrets hidden by both sides are as shocking as they are deadly. This electrifying next novel in the Wicked Winter Chronicles goes into more depth of the hatred between witch and fae, and sets Eve against the darkness that has grown on her soul like a plague.
