When the 73rd reaping occurs, the children of district ten believe that it's like every other reaping. But, what nobody knows - or expects - is that President Snow has put a minuscule spin on the reaping pools. A spin that so accidentally gives Theia Python the titles of 'the cripple', 'the victor', and most importantly, 'the Python'.

"Theia Python, you two may recognise her, she won the year before you two did - '73. She's a Capitol favourite, and for good reason too. She's vicious, smart, and you best bet on her getting the majority of the sponsors after the insanity of her games," Haymitch says, waving up at the screen beside him. "Look at her and tell me what you see."

The two victors - now tributes once more - look at each other blankly before the young blonde on the right, Peeta, responds, "she's an amputee ?"

"Good!" Haymitch says, pointing at the metallic plate that engulfs the bottom half of the python daughter's arm. "And she didn't get that in the arena, no, she got that long before."
