me made me jump-"that sure was pretty." Johnny said.
"Yeah." I sighed.
"The mist was what was pretty," Johnny said. "All gold 
and silver."
"Uhmmmm." I said, trying to blow a smoke ring.
"Too bad it couldn't stay like that all the time."
"Nothing gold can stay." I was remembering a poem I'd read once.
	"What?"

"Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
	So Eden sank to grief,
	So dawn goes down to day.

   Johnny was staring at me.
