I was born to Graysen, enemy of the Fae. He taught me his history. The history of the war with Hybern, 27 years ago, of the different kinds of Fae to hate, and of Feyre, who was taken by Tamlin-the worst Fae of them all. 
Yet recently Ma and I found that maybe Father didn't hate all Fae. In fact, he was still in love with one. So obsessed with Elain, he had named me after her-Ellaena. Ma left, and in the wake of her absence, I now doubted their love of me, and fled my Father's fortress.
Fled into town, in the alleys, straight into the group of men who became my first abusers. They left me in the forest, at the border between the mortal realm and the Spring Court. 
It was how I met him-the one I was warned of most. 
Tamlin. 
And I learned, like 27 years ago when he had fallen for Feyre, that he had always been destined for mortal love.
