In which Enid sinclaid gained a crush on the homeless teenager working at the weathervane.Despite being rejected she decided to declare herself his hero.
Gaining him a place to live even if he didn't want it.
Around three years ago, I found myself sat at the Weathervane, a small café that had quickly become a favorite hangout spot.
Beside me were Yoko and Divina, two friends I had met at the start of last semester, their laughter filled the air as we settled into a booth.
We chose a spot that was a table or two from the counter, where three teenage boys were working-though it seemed they were more engrossed in their conversation than actually serving customers.
Two boys talked while the other just listened and nodded the odd few times.
The atmosphere was light, but soon the silence was broken by Yoko's curious observation. "Isn't he that homeless hobo?" she remarked, her gaze fixed on a dirty blond haired boy who appeared to be more focused on burning his hand than on making coffee.
The reaction to the burn was oddly captivating.
He didn't whine, cry, nada, just wiped his hand on his apron and went back to what he was doing.
Divina quickly protested, "I don't think we're allowed to say that," but I couldn't help but defend my interest.
"He's cute for someone who probably hasn't showered," I replied, feeling a strange pull towards the boy who seemed so out of place in his own environment.
I couldn't quite explain why Lawrence caught my attention, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants-even if it's a homeless fourteen-year-old.
Divina whistled in his direction as she and Yoko turned in their seats, her whistle cutting through the chatter.
