When he realizes that his mate is none other than the Yiling Laozu, he feels his reality shift. Living among the common people who worship Yiling Laozu as their saviour he realizes that the Trifecta lies. He feels his loyalty and morality questioned as he aligns himself with the interests of his mate to stand against the decade long tyranny of the trifecta that has led to the miserable living condition of the people of Jiangshu. What Wei Wuxian does not realize is that with the rightful ruler by his mate his word is no longer a revolution but rather law that the trifecta are bound to obey.
