Two brothers find themselves laying unable to move and confused in the base's ICU. Neither one of them can clearly recall the events that led up to their stay in their less-than-comfortable beds. Both remember falling ill, but memories of ending up in the medical wing can't seem to be found. Even the memories of life prior to being dangerously ill seem to have suddenly gotten fuzzy.

Now, Veil and Perrin are left with little choice other than to think back in an attempt to find any answers that they can. The biggest problem? They can hear strange noises coming from up above them late at night. It's not as simple as your typical creaky building sounds. There's undoubtedly something lurking in the walls, and it has been using the vents to travel around their father's fortress.

A New Beginning: Tessa's Story by CrystalScherer
55 parts Complete
Optional sequel to Upon Wings Of Change. (This is a version with *JUST* Tessa's POV (different from the main version, which has 3 POVs. Was my attempt to revise the slower pacing, but I'm not sure how well it worked, but since I put in the work, here it is.) Summary: The dragonets are flourishing; both those in the park and those helping the Kymari. As the first dragonets to hatch in the Kymari civilization, Tessa and her brother are paving a new path as they grow up and learn how to fit into the world. New beginnings are often great things, but sometimes shadows from the distant past come calling. Excerpt: I braced my feet against the wall as I pulled. Suddenly, the lever swung downward. I lost my grip and tumbled backward. I landed on my side and slid across the counter. My legs and tail flailed as I tried to get to my feet or slow down-but I didn't manage it in time. Almost in slow motion, my feet went off the counter as I slid into the air. Without thinking, my wings popped open and beat hard as I twisted, trying to turn right side up so I could fly properly. I blinked in shock when I realized I was already flying upward. Grinning triumphantly, I beat my wings again and went back to the counter. Pleased with my flying abilities, I proudly landed on the counter - and forgot to slow down, which promptly sent me sliding across the slippery surface, lightly colliding with the glass door. I ducked my head sheepishly, glad no one else had seen that. My eyes locked onto the gap between the glass doors. With an eager grin, I pressed my shoulder against the edge and pushed. My feet struggled to find traction, but it was opening! Once I pushed the door far enough, I scampered over to the cantaloupe. It was much bigger up close. I blinked slowly, trying to think about how I was going to move it. There was no way I'd be able to lift it. It was round though. Round things could roll, right?

Can she neutralize the wizards before any more damage is done? Travel through out the kingdom with Celine and her allies as they try to stop the war while a new enemy arises, threatening to enslave all of humanity that dwells within the Midlands. Sneak peak: Suddenly a very small, strange creature that looked like a miniature woman with wings darted in front of Celine's face, then flew over to Brandon and followed along beside him for a moment before speeding back into the Royal Pine Forest as he reined in his horse. "What in the Midlands was that?" Brandon asked in shock. "I don't know," Celine answered concerned. "Something very strange is going on. I feel like I need to go into the woods! There's something I need to do in the woods!" she said as she rode over to the side of the road and dismounted, running into the Royal Pine Forest as Brandon called after her to wait. He quickly dismounted and swiftly lead his horse over to Celine's, taking its reins and tying both horses to a tree before going after her. "Celine! Wait!" he called after her as he realized that he could hear a very low humming noise coming from within the woods. "Maybe she's following the noise," he thought as he began to follow it to find where it was coming from and hopefully locate Celine. He pushed through the underbrush as the sound became louder and then he saw Celine standing in front of a whirling, shimmering vortex which was floating about four feet above the forest floor. There was a myriad of different types of strange looking creatures coming out of it and Brandon stood there in disbelief at what he was seeing.

Excerpt: A cold sweat began to trickle its way down her back and a shiver traveled up her spine. It was when the hair on the back of her neck stood on the end that she realized something was wrong. She took a few more steps forward in the dark forest when she finally comprehended the thing that flashed a warning in her instincts. The sounds of the woods she'd been hearing all night, the birds, crickets, and scuttering squirrels had all gone silent. That only meant one thing, and one thing only, a predator was on the hunt. This time it wasn't her. *Trigger Warning, the book contains, violence, blood, fighting
