Spiderman: Adventures in Gotham

Peter Parker is having a very normal day. He aces his Physics test, has spare time to finally hang out with MJ, and he's even making quick work of catching bad guys as his alter identity, Spider-man.
Unfortunately, his normal day in interrupted when a strange villain that Peter has never seen before appears, and Peter finds himself falling through a portal to another dimension.

At least, he hopes it's another dimension. Gotham certainly doesn't exist on his Earth, and the Batman and the Robins would really be a help to have on the Avengers. So, what happened to Peter, and how is he supposed to get back to New York?
