Samira 'Ira' Bitar is a 19-year-old trying to find her way through medical studies, being a baby figure skater at an ultra-competitive rink while also trying to step out of her brother's perfect hockey player shadow without being the family's total failure.
On the other side of the rink - and usually the Atlantic too - is pro athlete team USA reject Kai Xu, at 22 and far from home Kai has always kept away from the locals, too focused on fixing the mistakes of two years ago.
When Ira meets Kai properly during a coffee-filled study session at an overpriced cafe, nothing really happens ... until it does, and suddenly Kai's attention is less on skating and more on the short black-haired beauty hiding near the barriers; and when Ira's journal is forgotten after practice, Kai realises ira might be as shy as she first thought and Ira might just be falling for someone in a different league all together. In more ways than one.
