Until I Remember You

"you ran away though," she says, her voice flat, but it slices through him like glass against skin.

"I didn't," Reon says, not looking at her.
He's staring at the everywhere, looking for anything that might offer him a better excuse.

"You did," she leans back in her chair, arms crossed, unbothered. Her tone isn't accusing. It's just... observant. As if she's stating a fact he can't argue with.

"I had somewhere to be," he shrugs, forcing a casual tone that doesn't quite reach his eyes.

"Somewhere that wasn't where I was," she says. Not mad. Not offended. Just brutally accurate.

"You caught me off guard," he admits quietly. But there's this confession tangled in such a simple sentence.

"You looked like you saw a ghost," she replies, uninterested in sugarcoating anything

"You kind of are one," he says, leaning forward, eyes on hers now. "You don't talk to anyone. And then you talk to me."

She doesn't flinch. Just blinks once. Slowly. "So, what? You malfunction when people speak to you?"

He smiles lightly and says, "Only when it's you."

𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙏𝙨𝙪𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙤, unshakable, ubothered, unreadable. She speaks when she wants to. Looks when she means it. And she makes silence feel like a sentence. She's the type of character you could never understand, yet write about.

𝙍𝙚𝙤𝙣 𝙃𝙤𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙯𝙤𝙧𝙖, loud in the wrong places. Quiet when it matters. He's all heart, all nerve endings, all instinct-until Isane enters the room and suddenly, he forgets how to be casual. He doesn't get it. Doesn't want to get it. But he's already in it.

They don't fall easy.
They fall sideways-
slow, messy, and in absolute denial.

And sometimes the quiet ones say the loudest things-
and the ones who run, always look back.
