The thunder of footsteps echoed through the cobblestone streets, drowning out even the screams. The air was thick with smoke, and flames were already rising over the rooftops. The war that had been whispered about for months was no longer a distant nightmare-it had arrived at their doorstep.

Lyria's trembling hands clung to her parents' fingers. They held her close, shielding her until the very last moment.

- Lyria, listen to me, - her father's voice was hoarse but firm. - Run.

- But... - She knew what he was going to say, but her heart refused to accept it.

- To the tunnel, - her mother whispered, pressing a pendant with their family crest into her palm. - A ship is waiting for you at the port. Celestia... Emilia and Roland will help you.

A crash. The scrape of metal. They were here.

- We love you, - her father touched her face one last time.

And then, her world shattered into pieces.

----

She didn't remember how she escaped. Only the darkness of the tunnel, the pounding of her heart, and the blood drying on her hands. By the time Lyria reached the port, they were already waiting for her. Roland's warm embrace, Emilia's tears-it all felt distant, as if it was happening to someone else.

The waves rocked the ship, carrying her away from the ruins of her home and toward a new world, a new life-one that promised secrets, knowledge... and a meeting that would change her forever.

{18+ COMPLETED} A war that destroyed the world. It came and it went, leaving death and chaos in its wake. In the resulting turmoil England has split into four regions, a safety measure that was 'essential' to ensure that violence would not reign over the new world. The world as they know it has been wiped away, but there's only so much pressure you can apply to someone's throat before they snap. ~~~~ Zac and Emilia are in the North. Forced into jobs and ordered into arranged marriages, Emilia's happy memories of her family are long gone, instead replaced by immense fear of the Enforcers who patrol the streets, the State who dictate the rules and the growing lust for her husband, Zac. As the cruelty heightens, so does any tolerance for the State. Tortured one too many times, Emilia meets a group determined to bring the State down; the aptly named Resistance. Taking matters into their own hands, they launch themselves into a flurry of guerrilla warfare, completely unaware of what lies in store for them. Will Emilia's desire for Zac get in the way of their goal? Can they figure out a way to work together? Is the State ready to fall, or is this only the beginning? ----------------------------------------------------------- ' Zac moves slowly, a gentle, seductive kiss that has heat building in my core, a small moan erupting from my lips as he grabs the back of my neck, forcing the kiss deeper, angling my face to continue, my insides stirring even more at the action. I move my own tongue against his, attempting to give him just as much as he's giving me, meeting fire with fire. He seems to like that, smirking against my mouth before he runs a hand through my hair, gently tugging on the ends, pulling my face back further, up towards him. '

"A dragon and its rider. They are not mere companions but a single entity, united in spirit and purpose until their last breath." - Flight Master Soren Beck. Falamor was divided into two regions, The North and The South. In the northern reaches lies Ashe Academy, a prestigious battle academy dedicated to training elite Dragon Riders for the approaching war against the Southern kingdom, which sought to bring the North to its knees. Jaeda was a 19-year-old orphan conscripted into Ashe Academy. Could she survive to become a Dragon Rider? Carlyle Rayne was a privileged Prince of the North who was expected to attend Ashe Academy and gain the same prestige as his family. Surviving was one thing; mastering combat and Dragonology was another, especially under the watch of the Wing Commander, who happened to be Prince Carlyle Rayne. Would Jaeda remain Flightless or soar higher than she could ever imagine? "Dragons are a proud and ancient species. They have ruled the sky long before humanity, were once the rulers of this realm." - Hana Kol, Master Dragonologist of Ashe Academy. *** Before you ask, NO - FOUTH WING didn't inspire me; it was How to Train Your Dragon and Game of Thrones. Hence, the tags to get my story noticed. I'm sorry for the confusion. This is NOT fan fiction of either of those fandoms. It's my story. It's unedited, a work in progress, a passion project. I would love feedback! Both in Jaeda's POV and Carlyle's POV. In the world of Dragonfire, anything is possible. Flying, teleportation, invisibility, the ability to create a lightning storm on a whim...anything can be done. And anything can exist. Goblins, Orcs, Dragons, Dwarves, Kitsunes...there are countless races, and countless abilities. A world of fantasy in which anything is achievable. Or so it seems. After all, everything has a cost. And victory...victory is the most costing of all. Across the Black Sea, guarded by the Leviathan, there exists a large land separated into five territories. Celestia, Arvan, Ingres, Illicen, and Arumi. These five territories are named after those who control them. At least, that is how it used to be. From a distant land, the Snake Kingdom managed to bypass the Leviathan, and invade these five territories! Under the guidance of General Clauve, they crushed everyone in sight, until their only remaining opponent was Celestia. But they made a mistake, and Celestia capitalized. In a crushing defeat, the Snake Kingdom was bested after nearly 8 years of conflict. After the war ended, Albedo Aria, a soldier from Celestia, was promoted to the rank of General. But she didn't feel like a hero. Suffering from severe PTSD, this story follows her as she tries to overcome the nightmares of war, and move on from the terrible things she was forced to do. She was raised to be a soldier, and joined the war from the age of eleven. As a soldier of Celestia, she could never, and still cannot ever disobey any orders. When war calls, she must answer. Whether she is truly willing to or not. But after four years without conflict, surely things couldn't reach that state again? Or perhaps that isn't the case. After all, her dear cousin must deliver a letter to her. A letter telling her that the Snake Kingdom is on the rise in their very own land. A letter telling her that every sliver of happiness she has gained after the war ended will be lost. A letter telling her that she must return to war...

・❥・ She thought maybe she was okay with being wicked. That she was so angry, so desperately, bitterly livid. She thought perhaps there were pieces of this world that deserved her wrath. Her wickedness. Some souls who deserved to be snuffed out. ・❥・ Cirsei Silvaeus had run away from home. A "home" that was much more akin to a prison, a crypt within which she would waste away to nothing. Cirsei's father, Valentine, had been keeping her under his thumb ever since the death of her mother. Regarding her as little more than an object, a piece of property which could turn him a profit, he subjected her to wretched, unspeakable cruelty. Her escape had been impulsive, fueled by the desperation harbored only by those who were fighting for their lives. She does not make it very far before crashing into an Illyrian general who, to her dismay, pulls her into his world. Surrounded by new faces, a new city, and a new sense of uncertainty about her future, Cirsei feels she has traded one prison for another. She will come to learn that this could not be further from the truth - but this lesson is not without its growing pains. Takes place shortly before Under the Mountain.
