❝You have no idea how hard it is. To feel like a constant disappointment to our father, let alone all of Hyrule. You have found your purpose and fulfilled it so far. Your knight that stands beside you is proof of that. What about me? The knight that stands behind me simply reminds me of my failures every day.❞
-Zelda

❝Annie, you're more than just a Guide to me.❞

Throughout Hyrule's history, the power of the Triforce along with Demise's curse has endured and came true time and time again since the Sky Era. The Hero's Spirit, a princess with sacred powers, and a great evil are all intrinsically linked and reborn in an endless cycle. But in this era, ancient prophetic texts tell of a Guide for the hero in case of his failure, and another princess of the Royal Family who is destined to find this Guide. This princess is said to be given a power to seal this guide away to serve when the time is needed, along with an extended life so she can watch over the Guide who is assisting the Hero to defeat the evil plaguing Hyrule.

But what happens when the Hero falls and must be resurrected in a process that puts him into sleep for 100 years, Zelda must keep the Calamity at bay, the secondborn sister must live through this time, and the Guide must help Link defeat Ganon?

The story in this book will not follow the events of Breath of the Wild with complete accuracy and I know that, some changes will be made for the sake of the story.

Most characters in this book were made by Nintendo. I do not own any besides the original characters which are the following as of now:
-Annie
-Alan

Blighted Memories by Bard13
42 parts Complete
Amnesia was a funny thing. It strips you of all memories, both good and bad. But what it didn't take away from Link was his caring heart. He wasn't a man who had time to deal with or worry about things like memories anyway. All he cared about was doing what was right. But just because Link had no memories, or any interest to reclaim them, didn't mean they wouldn't return to haunt him. Ever since Link woke up, strange things have been happening around the land. Horrific creatures, not quite monster and not quite human, begin appearing at night to terrorize the denizens of Hyrule. Link, not one to simply let such evils do as they please, decides to investigate into the matter as he travels across the land to find a way to destroy these creatures. It should've been just another job for him, just a problem the people needed solved, just another errand for the incarnation of Hylia's hero. But as he investigates, he is haunted by his past. Link's mind cannot remember what happened. But his heart did. He still feels what he lost, what he failed to protect, even after one hundred years. That's what draws something toward Link, the very same evil that created the creatures he faces. It follows and watches him from the shadows, taunting him, waiting for him to remember the past he's forgotten, waiting for the pain to resurface, waiting for the time he can no longer carry the weight of it all. As he journeys on his quest to defeat Ganon and save Princess Zelda, Link must learn to contend with another ancient evil that taints the land, all while facing the ghosts of his forgotten past. But how long can a disgraced hero last in the face of his failures? Cover art designed by @DaybreakVision on Twitter. Some themes may be upsetting to some readers. Viewer discretion advised. REWRITTEN ⚠️WARNING⚠️ Possible Content: Abuse Smut Blood & Injury Sexual Assault Traumatic Events Please do not read for the sole purpose of smut. If that's all you're interested in, let me refer you to my book of lemons revolving around Link. Check my profile for it! (Currently drafted) For the sake of sanctity, you and most characters including Link will be 18+ present time. ▲ ▲ ▲ I always felt such a bond with him, one that ran deep like the temple of Lake Hylia, or so I've heard. Among the rest he was the only human I'd ever felt close to. But there was a problem. That bond only ran so deep as it hit steel within Link's soul, that of which never once had truly allowed passage of my being. I've always felt that perhaps our fondness of one another was barely mutual, but it became apparent to me the moment I felt his soul falter and stop dancing with mine. I thought I was his best friend. What was the reason? ▲ ▲ ▲ The soul is the only thing the hero carries along his reincarnations, bound to Hyrule's aid by the goddess Hylia. ▲ ▲ ▲ ⚠️ A slow burn romance. You're in for a weird ride. Also, story may not be for you if you personally do not like large Y/N character development. (Story is in the making, expect possible changes of story) Disclaimer: I do not own you or any of the characters accounted for. You belong to yourself of course, and the rest of TP's characters to Nintendo. Very few OC's will be present for plot development.
