In the Mexican town of San Ángel, Manolo, Maria and Joaquin have been friends ever since childhood. 

Although their lives have taken different paths. Maria was sent to Europe, Joaquin joined the military, and Manolo studied to become a bullfighter. One thing remains the same: Manolo and Joaquin both want to marry Maria. 

Little does the trio know that battling husband-and-wife deities have made a high-stakes wager on the love triangle's outcome.

What they are unaware of is that the three leaders of the afterlife, El Muerte and his beloved wife: La Y/N, the rulers of the Land of the Remembered, and Xibalba, the ruler of the Land of the Forgotten, long ago made a wager on which of the two will marry María.

The outcome which will have a profound effect not only on María, Joaquín and Manolo's joint lives, but the course of San Ángel, which is constantly under threat by evil Chakal, and the world.
